Given its ability to precisely and athermally ablate any material, Raydiance’s Smart Light™ ultrafast technology provides a much needed solution for the cardiovascular stent manufacturing sector. The Smart Light platform enables the ablation of both metal and polymeric materials commonly deployed in stent designs with little or no post-processing.
Raydiance Smart Light, with its ability to ablate at micron resolution—literally cell by cell—autonomously, if desired, and without introducing heat to the target area, has the potential to rapidly advance therapeutic innovation in the coming years.
Raydiance Smart Light was used to athermally ablate a simple stent design in the bioabsorbable material poly, lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA). The machining of this low melting point polymer was achieved without introducing any thermal effects.
Raydiance Applications Lab engineers have used Smart Light MDTM to create precise features simulating stent designs in Nitinol cylinders. The stents were machined in a single pass and then dropped in an ultrasonic bath of tap water. No further post processing was necessary.
One platform, many materials. Raydiance Smart Light enables the athermal ablation of virtually any material. Our capabilities overview provides a brief look at the many materials machined in the Raydiance Applications Lab.
